Aldara ™
Aldara™ Cream is gaining popularity in preventing skin cancers. It works effectively in repairing unhealthy skin cells found in actinic (AK) lesions that may develop into cancer. Aldara™ Cream can actually uncover AK lesions that may not be visible, disappearing after weeks of treatment. Skin cells become healthy again and patients are treated for 16 weeks after lesions disappear. Patients may experience mild to severe responses, depending on the condition of the skin.
Aldara™ Cream is also used to treat superficial basal cell carcinoma. When surgical methods of removing these carcinomas are less appropriate or desired, Raleigh Dermatology may prescribe Aldara™ Cream. It is usually prescribed once a day, five days a week, for at least a full 6 weeks. Most patients see these cancerous lesions completely disappear from their skin!
